Specification of Zinc Oxide Arrester Blocks D105H24 HG

1.    General specification

TGE zinc oxide arrester blocks are designed for gapless arresters. 

The electrical tests are based on IEC60099-4 (2014), specifications of D105H24HG are listed in below table.

4.    Routine test

We will do 100% routine test for below items.

1)     2ms routine test, 2 impulses and 1600A, impulse interval 50 ~ 60s.

2)     Lightning residual voltage at 20kA.

3)     DC voltage at 1mA.

5.    Acceptance test

5.1  test condition

Ambient temperature:10 ~ 30℃

Relative humidity: ≤ 75%


5.2  Power loss at 0.745*Uref@10mAand 25℃

Requirement:           ≤ 0.6W

Samples for test:        6pcs per lot

Criterion:               all 6pcs pass the test


5.3  Power loss at 0.745*Uref@10mAand 190℃

Requirement:           ≤24.0W

Samples for test:        6pcs per lot

Criterion:               all 6pcs pass the test


5.4  4/10µs high current test

2 impulses with waveshape 4/10µs at 100kA, cool down to ambient temperature before 2nd impulse.

Requirements: no flashover outside, no crack, no puncture.

change of Ures @20kA≤ 5%.

Samples for test: 2pcs per lot

Criterion: both 2pcs pass the test


5.5  2ms repetitive charge transfer test

20 impulses with rectangular 2ms waveshape at Qrs3.2C, 20 impulses are divided into 10 groups and 2 impulses for each group. Impulses interval 50 ~ 60s in group and cool down to ambient temperature between groups.

Requirements: no flashover outside, no crack, no puncture.

change of Uref @10mA ≤ 5%

Samples for test: 5pcs per lot

Criterion: all 5pcs pass the test.If not more than 1pcs fail the test, then repeat the test with 5pcs, it pass the test if no further failure, it fail the test if still failure.


5.6  Accelerated ageing test

The test is under 115℃ and 0.90*Uref@10mA.Perform 1000h test for type test and 200h test for lot release test.

Requirements: power loss shows permanent decreasing trend or be stable after initial decreasing.

Samples for test: 3pcs per lot

Criterion: all 3pcs pass the test



6.    V- I characteristics

Typical V - I curve of D105H24HG is illustrated as below diagram. 100A to 2000A are with 30/60µs and 2.5kA to 40kA are with 8/20µs.


7.    Appearance check

We will do 100% appearance check, below parts are not accepted and will not be delivered:

1)     Aluminum on lateral surface.

2)     Width of unmetallizedborder is bigger than 0.5mm, refer to diagram a.

3)     Chips up to aluminum metallization.

4)     Depth and width of chip should be within below table, refer to diagram b.

8.    Packaging

Put parts into EPE box, then put EPE box into carton. Each EPE box2pcs arrester blocks and each carton 5 EPE boxes, total 10pcs arrester blocks per carton. Dimension of carton and EPE boxas below diagram.


9.    Storage and handling

The arrester blocks should be kept in the package and be stored indoors until acceptance test or assembling. Once the package has been opened, the arrester blocks should be stored in dry and clean condition in order to avoid dew and dust on surface.


It is recommended to dry the arrester blocks at around 180 for about 2 hours before assembling.


The arrester blocks should not be handled by bare hand or with dirty gloves in order to avoid contamination on the lateral surface.
